The conditions in which Cat lives in are minimal. Her house, which is not much bigger than a living room, kitchen, bathroom and a bedroom, is barren of furniture, excluding the milk crates. Her bed is a futon mattress with sheets and a couple thick blankets. There’s a small oil lamp next to the bed as well as a few BiC pens and notebooks. All her clothing is hung neatly on cheap wire hangers in her closet, sorted by season and style. Her old notebooks and stories are also stored neatly by name in six or so cardboard boxes. In a dusty corner, there is a computer from ancient times (as in black screen, green type ancient) which she uses to type stories she’s sending in for events and such.
In her kitchen is a microwave oven and a refrigerator that’s three feet tall. Inside there usually is some milk, cheese, microwaveable meals, leftover McDonald’s, and Coca-Cola. The pantry consists mostly of canned foods, macaroni and cheese with some Cup of Ramen thrown in for some variety.
The bathroom has a cabinet, toilet and shower. The shower is a little mildewy, but it’s hard to distinct the mildew from the tile because of the tile colour. In the cabinet there are a few towels, number varying if Cat has done the laundry recently or not. Above the cabinet is a cracked mirror, a few shards missing from the previous owner(s).
The living room is barren except a few questionable stains on the carpet and a few milk crates. Sometimes there is piles of books she’s borrowed from the library under the
window.
Out in the back "yard," (jungle would be more appropriate,) there is a storm cellar with a few hundred pounds of rock piled on the door. Cat and her friends, after several investigations, have concluded there is a very large creature living in the cellar and it should be left alone.
Cat does everything she can to keep bills at a minimal. Going to the laundromat helps some, but she still has to pay for water for the bathroom and kitchen. As well as electricity for the microwave, computer and fridge. She got the oil lamp at the flea market for a couple dollars, incase she wanted to do some late-night reading or writing. Heating and air-conditioning are only used in the most extreme situations.
